SMLE Trainer IV*
Serial No: J53878
Calibre:.22LR
Price: £1,195
BSA SMLE MkIV* training rifle dated 1918 on the wrist band, with an excellent barrel. The barrel is original and not Parker Hale lined.
This is a very well presented SMLE single shot trainer with both the wood and metalwork in very good condition. The fore-end stock does have an armourer’s repair, which is hardly noticeable, as seen in the pictures
Matching numbers to receiver, bolt, nose-cap and underside fore-end stock. The magazine is stamped .22 and has the follower removed to allow spent cases to fall into the empty void.
This is a genuine military issue not a civilian version. The brass disk set in the butt shows it was issued to the 5th Battalion, Green Howards. The Green Howards were part of the BEF in 1940. Therefore, it is quite a nice piece or provenance.
This rifle is an original military issue trainer, which rarely come onto the market. It would be perfect for competition and collectors of military trainers.
